FLAYANT
Flayant merges the wild and varied patterns of animal skin with landscapes.
Animals use their skin as devices of disguise and defence that communicate on a mysteriously primoridal level and are inextricably linked to the environment these animals are found in and are real examples of evolutionary success. The work explores colour, and geometery in nature as communication and illusion.
Exploring Dutch and English landscapes of the previous centuries mixed with contemporary images of the planets and the cosmos. Exploring the symbiosis of environments and it's inhabitants and contemplates themes of extinction, loss of enviornment and biodiversity while we search for life beyond planet earth.
